The IWC ref.3705 Replicawas the first Fliegerchronograph to be fitted with a ceramic case. It resulted in a watch that had a very clean and utilitarian look.
IWC now launches the pilot’s chronograph “Tribute 3705”, giving this historic watch a new lease of life. It is very similar to the previous product, but there are some important differences. The case of the original watch is made of zirconia ceramics, while the subsequent models are made of cerium.
This material was developed by Swiss IWC Replica, and its base is made of a special titanium alloy. After machining, it will be placed in a furnace for firing. There, the surface of the material transforms into a surface with characteristics similar to ceramics. The chronograph button and pin buckle made of this unique material are also the first for IWC.
The inside of the case is also different from the original Fliegerchronograph ref. 3705, which is powered by the famous Valjoux 7750 movement. The pilot’s replica watch Chronograph Edition “Tribute to 3705” has IWC’s internal calibre 69380.
The unique movement structure of these two brands combines a two-way pawl winding system and a column wheel to accurately operate the chronograph. Like the original, this tribute has a diameter of 41mm and is equipped with a black calfskin strap, so the icon is truly continued in its modern predecessor.
The unmistakable blue dials and elaborate engravings on the casebacks have made theseIWC Replica Watcheshighly covetable in collectors’ circles.
The other big highlight of 2013 was the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince” (Ref. IW502802). This model also had the characteristic reflective blue dial like the Mark XVII and a special medallion depicting the Little Prince on the rotor, viewable from the back of the watch.
The IWC Replica blue dial displays a small hacking seconds subdial at 9o’clock, date and day at 3o’clock, and two chronograph counters at 12o’clock and 6 o’clock respectively for 30 minutes and 12 hour functions.
The 43 mm stainless steel case is water-resistant up to 60 meters and has an engraving of “Le Petit Prince” on the caseback. The watch is offered on a brown calfskin strap with quilted stitching and a stainless-steel pin buckle.
This year, IWC has brought in the“Le Petit Prince” Replicaon a watch that offers a dynamic mix of utilitarian design and stylistic flair.
It’s also worth noting that the Arabic hour markers are applied and are in the slightly more stylised typeface used on this collection, helping it stand out on the wrist.
IWC Reference 3705 Replica is first black zirconia ceramic pilot watch. The novelty and early use of black ceramic make it a very charming watch.
The IWC pilot chronograph “Tribute To 3705” is significantly different in the case material, case size and movement, and some dial details used.
Ceramics are less fragile than titanium or gold-if such a force is applied to a ceramic case to break it, the same force will undoubtedly destroy the titanium or gold case irreversibly. Maybe these won’t be damaged, but they won’t be preserved because of a little polishing.
The 41mm wide Ceratanium® case IWC Replica Watch is indeed lightweight and seems to have the flattering thermal properties of titanium-which means it is not a hockey puck that is iced on the wrist like a steel watch. Wear it in a cold place. The reduced weight and comfortable calfskin strap also subtly conceal its 15.3mm thickness. IWC even managed to maintain a small sloping edge that runs all the way along the edge of the lug-it can only be seen in the correct light, but if it does, it must be a treat.
The internal movement of the IWC pilot chronograph “Tribute To 3705” is the movement 69380 manufactured by IWC. This is not only better than the internal state of the 7750, but also because it provides a column wheel and combines it with a two-way pawl winding system for effective rewinding.
The new Cheap IWC Replicahas running seconds at 6 o’clock, so the two chronograph subdials are no longer on the vertical plane, but are next to each other at 9 and 12 o’clock.
